MELROSE AND MORGAN,
GROCER
Commissioned by the London based grocery shop and kitchen, the brief was to transform a sad looking bagel shop in Hampstead into a light, welcoming space that combined period decorative elements and 21st century design.
With a nod to the building’s age, vintage elements were incorporated including Victorian decorative tiles, used as a focal point and running the length of the shop, plus innovative display solutions including the use of aged cheese boards.

COLOUR PALETTE
Washed out greys, pale marble and light oak were used to ensure the space, which had limited natural light, felt bright and open. The additional use of decorative tiles added pops of faded colour that complimented the foodstuffs on display
Essential hardwearing materials were utilised for flooring, shelving and counters. Solid oak was used for the floor and to clad the till counter, reclaimed Iroko wood for cupboards and Carrara marble created counter tops. Tough galvanised steel was selected to create open industrial shelving for dry foodstuffs.
Although featuring a double height ceiling, the shop had limited natural daylight. Cool grey walls, pale marble and light oak help to keep the space feeling bright and open.
